Demo Documentation
Create a new set of pages focused on covering the Demo (v0.3.0.5) of Picayune Dreams

Main Goal

Create a new subsection of article under the "Demo" namespace for pages which apply to the demo version of Picayune Dreams in order to provide proper information and documentation on this version of the game, and in order to reduce confusion for players to understand the differences in content, balance and mechanics.

When Should You Add a Demo Page?

It should be noted that articles on aspects of the game that go unchanged compared to the release version and demo versions should NOT have a Demo page – there is no need for clarification on any differences as the version does not have any differences to note.

Release Only

This also applies to articles on topics which are NOT present in the demo. These pages should instead be denoted by the usage of {{releaseonly}} at the top of its page.

Mentions of these articles in areas of the wiki which do not have a separate "Demo" article should use the {{demo}} template with its first parameter set to something (i.e. {{demo|a}} to get Does not apply to the Demo (v0.3.0.5) of Picayune Dreams.) in order to simply and easily denote the feature as not being present in the demo version of Picayune Dreams.

Page Format

In order to prevent damaging the search engine rating for the Picayune Dreams Wiki, it is important to refrain from duplicating large amounts of text directly from the original article the Demo page is being created for.

Articles with Demo content should have the {{DemoTab}} template transcluded at the top of both the main article and the demo article. This creates a new tab for the Demo page for easy accessibility, allowing users to easily switch between the two with ease.

Differences

Pages for single-topic articles should list a category for Differences. Some examples of pages which should have a category for these are as follows:

  • Upgrade articles (as in single upgrades like Telecom Telecom, NOT the upgrades page.)
  • Enemy articles (for certain types of enemies like Soul Souls or the Cornchip Cornchip, NOT the enemies page.)

Infoboxes

Infoboxes will need to be manually updated, but most infoboxes will automatically display a "Demo" icon in the top right of the infobox to differentiate them from their normal release version counterparts.

Navboxes

Navboxes will need to be addressed on a case to case basis, but in the case of some, such as {{NavboxUpgrades}}, it will have an additional unnamed parameter which will switch the navbox to only display demo content.

Examples

Type Examples
General Demo:Upgrades
Upgrades CORE (Demo) Demo:CORE Only applies to the Demo (v0.3.0.5) of Picayune Dreams.
Chain Belt (Demo) Demo:Chain Belt Only applies to the Demo (v0.3.0.5) of Picayune Dreams.
Horns (Demo) Demo:Horns Only applies to the Demo (v0.3.0.5) of Picayune Dreams.
Release Only Statues
Suits

Currently, the majority of demo content surrounding upgrades have been created, which may help to better understand how a Demo page is to be formatted. However, a large majority of pages still don't have content which fully reflects its behavior (or lack of a presence) in the demo.

The pages in the table displayed on the right should help you get an idea of what a Demo page is meant to look like, and how it should be formatted.
